What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the stimulation of acu-points on the body to control and regulate the flow and balance of energy within the body. If there is a disruption of flow in any way, a person then feels symptoms or becomes ill.  Points are needled along the meridians to allow proper flow of Qi, therefore removing symptoms.

Is Acupuncture Painful?

Acupuncture needles are very small, about the width of a single hair, and are designed to easily penetrate the skin, reducing the possibility of discomfort.  Most people find Acupuncture performed in our office to be quite relaxing.

Can Acupuncture Help Me?

Acupuncture is a natural non-invasive method to allow the body to return to its optimal state of vitality and well-being.  Therefore, many conditions can be positively effected by treatment.  The following is by no means an exhaustive list of the conditions that respond favorably to Acupuncture:

  • Acute/Chronic Pain
  • Headaches
  • Stress
  • Colds/Flu
  • Infertility
  • Weight Loss/Appetite Control
  • PMS
  • Asthma/Allergies
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Depression
  • Anxiety/Panic Attacks
  • Sports Injuries
  • Colic
  • Bedwetting

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments required varies depending on the condition and the individual response to treatment.  Chronic problems generally require more treatments than acute.  Patients are urged not to enter an Acupuncture program with the thought of, "taking a few" to see what will happen.  Even though it is possible to achieve success on the very first visit, a program of six visits would have a higher chance for success.
